Finding the perfect Halloween costume isn’t always the easiest. There’s the question of what should you be, where or how are you going to find the costume, and how much do you really want to spend on it? Plus, if you’re something like me who waits until the last minute to get their costume, what is even available anymore?
Halloween is supposed to be fun, not stressful. But then you start to hear of everyone else’s creative costume ideas and begin to wonder if you put enough thought into yours. It isn’t always easy coming up with unique and exciting costume ideas, especially ones that are affordable.
Are you sitting there wondering what to dress up as for Halloween this year? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are eight costume ideas you can easily whip up.
Fake News
If there are two words that the world has heard a lot of in 2018 it’s probably “fake news.” Embrace it by dressing up as fake news. All you need is a t-shirt that you can write FAKE on it, and old newspapers to make a skirt or shorts out of. You’re sure to get a few laughs when you walk into the room.
None of My Business Meme
Oh memes. They give us a lot of laughter some days. So, why not recreate one that everyone will recognize? Kermit the Frog’s “But That’s None of My Business” meme is simple to make yet easily recognizable. Put on some green clothes, make some googly eyes for your head, and a sign around your neck that says “But That’s None of My Business…” Don’t forget to carry a cup around for when you need a sip.
Bacon and Eggs
Looking for a cute and clever couples costume? Why not a breakfast favourite - bacon and eggs? It’s pretty simple (or you can buy it). Paint some cardboard to look like a few bacon strips and another one to resemble eggs. Have one of you carry a frying pan and the other a spatula. Voila!
Baywatch Lifeguard
Will it be a little cold? Possibly. But everyone will know right away who you are with this one. Grab a red bathing suit, a whistle, and a floating device if you have one to dress up as a Baywatch Lifeguard.
Life & Lemons
Here is a costume for those who wait until the day before or just really don’t want to put in a lot of effort. Go as the classic “when life gives you lemons” saying. It’s super easy and fairly inexpensive. All you need is a light shirt that you can write LIFE on, and then carry around some lemons. That’s it.
Ceiling Fan
Have a little fun with words and be a ceiling fan (maybe not the one you’re thinking of). Where a shirt that you can write “Let's Go Ceilings!” on and make a little ceiling flag. Add some pom poms for a bit of an extra touch and your a ceiling fan - get it?
Breadwinner
Be the breadwinner this Halloween to make you feel rich for a day. How do you do that? By simply carrying around some bread and hanging gold medals around your neck. So, maybe it’s the literal version of breadwinner, but it’s sure to make people chuckle (and it’s super easy to create).
Formal Apology
Want to be fancy yet still entertaining? Go as a formal apology. It’s quite simple - dress up in your fanciest outfit you own and write “sorry” on your body somewhere noticeable. You are now a formal apology.
